Ty's Ramblings - May 22, 2013
Rain. Thank goodness for rain, the past week has seen the atmosphere change in Montana, Wyoming & North & South Dakota . . . last Wednesday pastures and fields were dusty and dry now a week later the moisture has changed the outlook. Hopefully these rains will continue and take the pressure off of feed prices.
Oklahoma. On the other side of country the change in weather has caused sever and deadly damage to homes & families. Many of our roper friends are from the affected areas, and my sincerest heartfelt sympathies go out to them. If you want to make a donation to help with the disaster visit www.redcross.org.
Tale of the Tape. Gillette, Wyoming the first Western Frontier Tour stop had 810 teams. I brought a load of older bigger steers to the roping, because it usually is snowy and wet that time of year. The steers didn’t perform very well, don’t worry all those steers are gone and we now have 320 fresh mexican corrientes standing in Billings, ready for the season.
Mandan, North Dakota – light team counts, maybe too early in the year, not sure - Five Star productions will produce another qualifier in Bismarck.
Memorial Day Weekend. This weekend the Memorial 5000 will be held at the Cottonwood Arena in Silesia, Montana. We will rope rain or shine, as the facility about 8 miles south of Billings, has two outdoor arenas and a nice indoor arena. Stalls and RV hookups are available.
Thought of the Day. “Every moment of one's existence one is growing into more or retreating into less. One is always living a little more or dying a little bit." Norman Mailer
